How do you feel about raisins?

I feel disgusted. The only things that are worse than raisins are prunes ...

What song is in your head right now?

"Jump Right In" by Zac Brown Band ... [Yes, I have an Indian background, but I also happen to love Country music ... I'm not the only one, I promise. :) ]

What's your passion?

My passion is making the world a better place for kids. Specifically, I want to be a high school or middle school Biology teacher, and my hope is to make an impact on my students, even if they happen to hate Biology. [But WHY would anyone ever hate the wonderful world of Biology??]

What's something about yourself I couldn't find out on Facebook?

I laugh a lot. Actually ... you could probably find that out by stalking my Facebook page, because I am THAT person who over-uses LOL and smiley faces. Here's something you wouldn't find on Facebook: My nickname was 'Miss Giggles' in elementary school, starting in first grade. In high school, my nickname was 'Gobbles'...because apparently, my laugh sounds like the noise turkeys make... :/ At JMU, it's pretty much an every day occurrence for people to identify my location by hearing my laugh...People have texted me from across the Quad, in the library, at Market One ... you get the idea.

What are your hopes and dreams for RISE?

I love this question, because RISE has enabled me to identify so many hopes and dreams that I have for the world. I hope RISE can be a place where no one ever feels alone and where people truly take in the message 'You are a gift,' not just from Amanda, but from every single person they come in contact with. For RISE & Shine, my focus area, my dream is that we can tap into all of our volunteer resources at JMU and the surrounding colleges, so that one day pretty soon, there will be a waiting list for people who want to volunteer and connect with the beautiful people of Harrisonburg every week. Shameless plug: if you're interested in volunteering at RISE & Shine, or are just curious, email me and I'd be happy to answer any of your questions!
