"When you harvest your land’s produce, you must not harvest all the way to the edge of your field; and don’t gather up every remaining bit of your harvest. Also do not pick your vineyard clean or gather up all the grapes that have fallen there. Leave these items for the poor and the immigrant; I am the Lord your God."
-- Leviticus 19:9-10
Every Tuesday from 12:30 pm until 2 pm, we need volunteers to collect produce donated by vendors at the Tuesday Farmer's Market. After the food is collected, we transport it to one of the three local food pantries (Blessed Sacrament, Summit House, and Community Mennonite). The pantries are on a rotating schedule, so while a different pantry receives the produce each week, each one is visited at least once a month.
Also, beginning this summer, we'll be gleaning on Saturday mornings at the Farmer's Market!
Can you help? We are in need of friends who can help glean produce from the Farmer's Market once every 3-4 weeks and then help deliver it to the appropriate pantries. It's a small way to make a big difference in the community. If anyone in your organization is willing to help us in this endeavor, or you know of anyone interested, please contact Lindsay Davis.
