Meet Kayla Knox
Why are you a RISE intern?
I want to become an integral part of the Harrisonburg community and one of the best ways I could think to do that is through RISE. This internship is going to allow me to work with my brothers and sisters in Christ while developing myself in the process.
What do you do as an intern?
I am working with a section of RISE called Love Packs. I will be helping pack school lunches for children at Spotswood Elementary School. I am very excited to see the difference I can make in a short time!
How do you feel about raisins?
Raisins are delicious. Chocolate covered, yogurt covered, in cookies, or just in salads… yum!
What's your favorite song to dance to?
I am all for rocking out and having a good time. I could dance to almost anything; but as of right now one of my favorite songs to dance to is the Won’t Wake Me Up by Chris Brown
If you could pick three heroes, who would they be and why?
If I had to pick a superhero to save me I would choose Superman. He is a gentleman, strong, and knows how to sweep a lady off her feet. As for real heroes, though, I would choose my mother because she is one of the most genuine and caring women I know. My mom is thoughtful, authentic, and selfless. My last hero, even though I have not met him, would be Morrie Schwartz from Tuesdays with Morrie. He gives great advice but is open about his experiences and tells the truth regardless of how brutally honest it is.
Do you have any secret talents?
I can change my American accent into a South African accent on command (I secretly fake an American accent).
What are your hopes and dreams for RISE?
RISE is such a great place to learn about yourself, God, and others. My dream for this faith community is that extends even further into the James Madison University campus and impacts more students. There are so many opportunities to get involved with that I hope more people will take notice and want to be a part of the change happening among us.
